For the past year in my role as the chief information officer for Kryterion I have had Shawn’s report as
Director of Software Development and DevOps.
His attitude is fully supportive, which I define as providing unfiltered advice, and even pushback when warranted, during the discussion of consideration phase of any decision, and then adopting and implementing the final decision as though it is his own. He can deconstruct complex problems into their constituent parts and make an effective plan for solution.
Shawn is a skilled technologist especially in the areas of software development process and best practices. He has an encyclopedic knowledge and deep experience in software development best practices and is able to teach these to the team. At his time at Kryterion he has made many process improvements which have improved quality and productivity. He is metrics driven and has helped our team to implement metrics and to use those to drive process improvement.

I was Shawn’s manager for nearly 8 years at Apriva. Shawn has many strengths. Shawn has been the “go to guy” in three areas of the engineering department: audits, security, and processes. Shawn cares about quality and so he is disciplined about making sure that he and his teams follow the existing SDLC-related processes (e.g., source control, code reviews, release process, etc.). I could always count on Shawn and his teams following process. Shawn is organized and manages his teams well.
Shawn is easy to work with and truly exemplifies the meaning of “team player.” I would welcome the opportunity to work with Shawn again. Shawn has my strongest endorsement and would make a great addition as a leader in any development organization.
Shawn and I worked together in co-leadership positions designing and building the payment services sector’s first highly secure, PCI-certified mobile payments gateway and mobile apps for both the iPhone and Android platforms.
Shawn’s design and development skill and his leadership enabled us to successfully deliver quality secure features and functions never before available to off-the-shelf IOS and Android phone devices.
